Questions and Answers

I use a spreadsheet and it's fine? Why should I use Salix Rent?

Spreasheets cannot handle processing a large number of rental incomes easily due to the physical restriction on the spreadsheet. (One HA told us thye'd developed a spreadsheet to do the basics and it took up to 15 minutes to open.)

Changing the formulea in a spreadsheet can lead to errors which may cost the company millions of pounds over ten years.

("KPMG found that in 91% of cases where spreadsheets were used for consolidation or budgeting, gave the wrong answer.")

A speadsheet cannot give the best results for properties which have a decreasing rental income.

(SlaixRent can show that for a given rent and its target, the financial effect of reducing Max Decrease parameter would be, both for 8 years remaining, and it shows the % increase on the tenant.)

SalixRent also caters for Audit Trails within the reporting module. A customer can do many What Ifs until the find their best solution, which also fits in with the Rent policy.

What are these five different methods of calculating rent you're talking about, were did they come from?

MaxRent, Tenth, Normal, No Rent, TenthNorm and Decrease/Break the rules were all developed by Salix.

All the methods apply different alogorithims to the rental income but still meet the legislation.

What do you need from us to do a demo, how many properties?

We have over a thousand properties on our demo system that show the full effect of rent restrucuring.

I've seen other packages that do this what makes your software better than the competition?

This product was developed by accountants working in your industry so we understand what you require better than the designers of other similar products.

Can I input the data the system creates into my accounting system?

Yes you can, information is exchanged via an ASCII file.
